Eligibility & Applications
Private sector employers (For-Profit and Non-Profit) who operate under the
provision of Maryland law are eligible. Training approval is only
for full-time positions with benefits. The salary cap for employees
participating in training cannot exceed $80,000.
Application
and Approval process
Employer
submits an application to Upper Shore Workforce Investment
Board representative before training begins. USWIB
reviews and forwards to The
State Review Team for approval based on the following
criteria:

Business
applicant meets eligibility criteria (Maryland private
sector employer);

Proposed
training meets program requirements (Specific to the
job, increase the occupational skills levels, etc.);

Cost
of training is reasonable, necessary and clearly
related to the project as described in the training
plan;

Training
project will be completed within 6 months, or within
the timeframes established if an exception has been
approved.
Decision
within one week after application is submitted to the
State Review Team.
Upper Shore Workforce Investment
representative notifies employer and executes letter of
agreement.
Reimbursement
Process
Upon
successful completion of Training, employer invoices USWIB
for approved training costs per application.
