Summer Job Workshops:
The workshops for our Youth Employability program are in progress.
They are being held in the One Stops in Cambridge, Wye Mills,
Chestertown, Easton, and Denton. The
mobile learning center is providing service in Hurlock and Federalsburg.
Board Report:
At
the April board meeting, I reported the new service strategy for the Youth
Employability Program. I reported
the Council recommendation that the Council continue as functioning unless the
Board would like to establish a new direction.
I also presented the recommendation that we renegotiate the contract with
Pathways to the Future for service to out of school youth.
The motion passed.
Youth Employability Program:
We
need to review our case management strategy for participants.
Consideration is being given to not renewing the youth specialist
contract in August and using our summer employability instructors as case
managers. All are school system
employees and have immediate access to participants.
